What is a Homer Pro? The Homer Pro is a software program specifically designed to help the blind and visually impaired. This remarkably simple but effective program allows users to do everything from reading text aloud to translating text into braille. The full version of the premium software costs $129.95 but this cracked version offers all the features for free. There are, however, certain limitations that will be discussed in detail below. The interface The interface is an important part of the program's success. The program displays a very simple layout which allows the user to quickly move from one section to another. In addition, Homer Pro uses a useful color-coded system to indicate the various key functions. Although the user may miss some crucial information in this interface, a well organized and easy-to-read layout is necessary for a program of this type. The Windows version The Windows version of Homer Pro works in much the same way as its standard counterpart with one major difference: it does not include "speech recognition" features that are present in all other compatible programs. The text reader This is where Homer Pro really shines. The word finder The word finder is another essential part of Homer Pro that allows users to find specific words or phrases in any text document. This feature works by scanning the entire document, sentence by sentence. Often times, this process can become time consuming for larger documents with lots of text. Computer translator Homer Pro's computer translator is an essential part of the program. This feature serves two different purposes. First, this translator allows users to translate text into different languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German and more. Secondly, the program allows Homer Pro users to read their favorite websites in Spanish or Italian without needing to learn a new language. The formula calculator This is one of the very few features of Homer Pro that does not work with any other versions of the program. Simply put, this calculator allows users to spell out complex mathematical formulas in order to read them aloud or have them converted into braille.
